About Us

To begin, my name is Cody Richard, and I manage the Vintage Sprint Cars social media accounts, as well as this website. I’m a 26 year old small business manager/owner from Central Pennsylvania that grew up in a racing family. For those of you that followed the Central PA sprint car scene in the 1990’s, you might remember my dad, Mark Richard – he raced 358 and 410 sprint cars for several years across Central PA.

Vintage Sprint Cars began in the Spring of 2014 as a way for me to of keep track of the sprint car photos that I found while researching the history of the sport. After repeatedly finding myself sending mass text messages of the photos I would find in my studies, I decided to create a Twitter account to store all of the best shots I found so that I could show them to friends and family quicker and easier. Much to my surprise, the Twitter account exploded, accumulating hundreds of followers in a few short weeks from the likes of Brad Doty, Jeff Gordon and other major sprint car legends. A large, positive public response drove me to put more time and effort into finding content that I felt my followers would enjoy.

Five years later, Vintage Sprint Cars has amassed over 11,000 Twitter and Instagram followers, and reaches nearly one million people per month. After much consideration, I decided in the Summer of 2018 to expand Vintage Sprint Cars’ outreach to include articles and literary pieces focused on interesting moments and facts in sprint car racing history. I have created this website as a method of posting my writings and further expanding on the content that my social media outlets currently provide.

Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate the success and popularity that Vintage Sprint Cars has accumulated since its creation. As I said, I was just doing this to keep track of pictures for MYSELF! Never did I imagine that the sprint car and broader auto racing community would take such an interest in my posts. I do not seek notoriety, respect, or prestige via my writings and social media accounts. I only wish to do my best to ensure that the rich history of sprint car racing lives on for generations to come. I firmly believe that you cannot appreciate where you are today if you do not know how you got there. I am doing my best to ensure that future generations know how sprint car racing got to where it is today…

Thank you, and God Bless,

Cody Richard
